Winter service is new for Maple Property Maintenance this year, and it's built around the parts of a property that matter most when snow hits: driveways, walkways, steps, and sidewalks, cleared with two-stage snow blowers and shovels — no plow trucks. That means controlled, careful clearing sized to residential properties, not a truck pushing snow around a driveway. Most customers sign up for a flat seasonal contract, so clearing happens automatically through the winter without calling every time it snows; a per-push option, billed only when we come out to clear, is also available for anyone who'd rather not commit to a full season up front.

Why Two-Stage Equipment Handles Ontario Winters Better
Single-stage snow blowers work fine for light, fluffy snow, but they struggle with the wet, heavy snow and slush that shows up regularly through a Durham Region winter — the kind that follows a temperature swing or comes down mixed with rain. Two-stage equipment uses an auger to break up and pull in snow first, then a separate impeller to throw it clear, which handles denser, heavier snow and larger accumulation without clogging or stalling the way single-stage equipment can.
How a storm unfolds matters too. We clear once the storm has ended, so driveways and steps get one clean pass instead of being cleared and covered again. On a long or heavy storm we run the route twice, so snow doesn't build up into a heavy, packed layer between visits.
