Why Root Removal Is the Part DIY Attempts Usually Miss
Cutting an unwanted shrub down at ground level feels like the job is done, but for a lot of species the root system left behind will simply send up new shoots — sometimes for multiple seasons — which is the most common reason a DIY removal doesn't actually solve the problem. Getting the roots out, not just the visible growth, is what actually prevents regrowth.
On the planting side, the biggest factor in whether a new plant thrives or struggles usually isn't the plant itself — it's whether it was matched to the site's actual light, soil, and drainage conditions in the first place. A shade-loving plant in full sun, or something that needs sharp drainage planted in a low spot that holds water, will struggle no matter how well it's cared for afterward. We assess the site before recommending what actually belongs there.

Do you help pick what to plant, or do I need to know already?+

I cut down a shrub myself and it grew back — why?+
That usually happens when the root system is left in place — many species will send up new shoots from remaining roots even after the visible plant is cut back. Full removal includes the roots.
